Anthropic
Anthropic is an AI safety company and frontier model developer founded in 2021 by Dario Amodei, Daniela Amodei, and six other former OpenAI researchers. The company develops the Claude family of large language models (LLMs) with an emphasis on safety, interpretability, and alignment research. It operates as a public benefit corporation and has grown into one of the most highly valued private technology companies, with products spanning consumer AI assistants, enterprise APIs, and agentic coding tools.
In May 2026, Anthropic closed a $65B Series H at a $965B post-money valuation — the largest private funding round ever recorded — led by Altimeter Capital, Dragoneer, Greenoaks, and Sequoia Capital, including $15B of previously committed hyperscaler investments (including $5B from Amazon). The company simultaneously released Claude Opus 4.8 and reported a $47B revenue run rate. On June 9, 2026, Anthropic launched Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5, the first publicly available 'Mythos-class' models. Claude Fable 5 posted 95.5% on SWE-Bench Verified and 80.3% on SWE-Bench Pro at launch. Claude Code, the agentic coding CLI tool, reached over $2.5B in annualized revenue as of February 2026. Anthropic is reportedly evaluating an IPO as early as October 2026. The company operates a Long-Term Benefit Trust governance structure. Revenue accounting methodology (gross reporting including cloud reseller pass-through) has been a subject of competitive dispute.
