Cognizant Launches Dedicated EMEA AI Unit to Scale Multi-Agent Agentic AI Solutions

The IT services giant has stood up a regional organization in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to move enterprise clients from single-model pilots to production-grade multi-agent artificial intelligence workflows.

Cognizant (NASDAQ: CTSH) announced on July 28, 2026, the formation of its Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) AI Unit, a dedicated organization created to help enterprises across the region move from artificial intelligence (AI) ambition to enterprise value, bringing together advisory, engineering, and delivery capabilities to help clients build, deploy, and run agentic AI solutions grounded in business context and independent of any single platform, model, or cloud.

Structural Design

At the center of the launch is a new delivery framework. Cognizant's Frontier Deployed Engineering (FDE) offering is a delivery framework designed to help organizations progress from AI strategy through to enterprise-wide deployment, structured around three service models: Foundation, Accelerate, and Transform.

Foundation helps organizations establish the strategy, governance, technology choices, and early prototypes needed to begin their agentic AI journey. Accelerate focuses on rapidly identifying, building, and deploying high-value use cases into production. Transform supports broader reinvention through multi-agent delivery squads that help redesign and automate workflows end to end, supporting accountability for operational performance.

The unit's staffing model distinguishes it from conventional consulting engagements. Frontier Certified Engineers architect agentic systems, build the retrieval and context layers that ground agents in domain data, and orchestrate multi-agent pipelines into production — remaining accountable for ongoing monitoring and tuning after go-live, which is specifically what most consulting engagements do not include.

Platform Neutrality and Prior Groundwork

As a neutral AI Builder, Cognizant works across cloud platforms, AI models, and technology ecosystems, helping clients choose and scale solutions that best fit their unique operating needs rather than committing them to a single stack or vendor. The EMEA launch builds on prior multi-agent infrastructure work: in June 2026, Cognizant announced that ServiceNow AI Agents now work with the Cognizant Neuro® AI Multi-Agent Accelerator, giving enterprises a unified environment to orchestrate AI agents across the platforms they already run, including custom-built systems and other third-party agent platforms. The Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator is open source and designed to work with a broad range of large language models (LLMs) and hyperscalers.

Early Production Deployments

Cognizant disclosed two live engagements to illustrate the unit's scope. The company is helping one of Europe's leading online fashion retailers move proven AI use cases into production through an AI factory model that can compress development cycles from months to days, while advancing agentic workflows across supply chain, inventory, returns, customer experience, and margin protection. It is also working with a global pharmaceutical leader to reimagine research and development (R&D) operations through multi-agent systems spanning drug discovery, clinical trial design, and regulatory preparation.

Cognizant has also recently entered a partnership with Domyn, a European provider of sovereign AI infrastructure. That collaboration is intended to help organisations in regulated sectors across EMEA deploy AI solutions that secure data within client-controlled environments and meet European regulatory standards.

Market Context

The structural shift from isolated model pilots to coordinated multi-agent workflows is reshaping enterprise AI procurement. AI agents from different vendors have largely operated in isolation, each requiring its own connectors and manual coordination — a fragmentation that both the EMEA AI Unit and the Neuro AI Multi-Agent Accelerator are explicitly designed to address. Manoj Mehta, President EMEA at Cognizant, noted that many organizations across EMEA are enthusiastic about AI but are still working out how to turn that momentum into real business value. Following the announcement, Cognizant's stock (CTSH) gained 7.48%, reflecting a notable positive market reaction.
