PwC deploys Claude enterprise-wide across global workforce

PricewaterhouseCoopers will roll out Anthropic's Claude Code and Claude Cowork to its U.S. teams before scaling to a global workforce of hundreds of thousands, in one of 2026's largest single enterprise AI commitments.

PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and Anthropic on May 14, 2026 announced a major expansion of their strategic alliance that will embed the Claude family of AI (Artificial Intelligence) models across the consulting firm's internal operations and client delivery. PwC will roll out Claude Code and Cowork starting with U.S. teams and expanding toward a global workforce of hundreds of thousands of professionals, and the companies are establishing a joint Center of Excellence and a program to train and certify 30,000 PwC professionals on Claude.

The deployment ranks among the largest single enterprise commitments to a frontier LLM (Large Language Model) provider to date. PwC operates a network with more than 364,000 people in 136 countries and 137 territories spanning audit, tax, deals and consulting.

Scope of the rollout

The collaboration focuses on three areas of highest leverage: agentic technology build, AI-native deal-making, and reinvention of the enterprise function. Anthropic and PwC framed the work as an effort to help companies replace systems and processes built for a pre-AI world — a drag the companies estimate at more than $2 trillion — and rebuild around AI.

PwC is launching a new finance business group called Office of the CFO built on Claude as its first standalone business unit anchored in Anthropic's technology. PwC said it started as "Customer Zero," surfacing use cases in journal entry, variance analysis and RFPs (Requests for Proposal), and optimizing annual planning through Claude Code, while helping Anthropic's own CFO (Chief Financial Officer) office scale operations, controls, and international payroll.

Deployment surfaces include ChatPwC — the firm's internal AI assistant — and client engagements with three active AI incubation pods in Finance, Supply Chain, and Deal Making. Claude Cowork will run directly within spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation programs and connect to enterprise data through Anthropic's Model Context Protocol.

Reported production results

The joint announcement cited specific outcomes from existing engagements. Across the production deployments, clients are reporting delivery improvements of up to 70%. Examples flagged in the release include insurance underwriting cycles compressed from ten weeks to ten days, and a COBOL mainframe modernization project with a codebase four times larger than scoped tracking on time and under budget. In cybersecurity, incident response accelerated from hours to minutes, with agentic vulnerability operations including code review and automated containment.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said "PwC has been leading AI's expansion into the parts of the economy where accuracy and reliability are non-negotiable—financial services, healthcare, life sciences, cybersecurity—and the results are clear. Insurance underwriting that took ten weeks now takes ten days. Security work that took hours now takes minutes. We're excited to put Claude in the hands of hundreds of thousands of people across PwC's workforce."

Industry context

The alliance extends to named client deployments. Advocate Health, one of the largest U.S. health systems, is among the organizations now building toward full-scale deployment across its 167,000-person workforce.

The agreement represents the deepest commitment within Anthropic's Claude Partner Network — the $100 million investment Anthropic made this year to back the services firms helping enterprises actually deploy AI, not just pilot it. It also follows competing moves in the Big Four; KPMG and Anthropic previously announced a global alliance integrating Claude into KPMG's Digital Gateway platform and making it available to all 276,000-plus employees. Separately, earlier in May 2026 PwC expanded its collaboration with OpenAI to develop an AI-native finance function at enterprise scale using agentic AI overseen by humans, indicating PwC is pursuing a multi-vendor strategy across foundation model providers.
